SPSE Center Evaluation

Last summer, the Danish National Research Foundation sponsored a review of Needham’s research group by an expert external panel, which gave the team its highest grade, denoting “Excellence from an international perspective”. The panel praised the center for having a well-trained staff of enthusiastic scientists and concluded the center is likely to “catalyze/establish a new approach to the development of diagnostics and therapeutics that will have a major impact”.

David Needham awarded Honorary Doctorate from University of Nottingham

Congratulations to Prof. David Needham, who has been awarded an honorary doctorate degree (Doctor of Science honoris causa) from the University of Nottingham in England. It was presented during the Pharmacy School's graduation ceremony, held on December 10, 2015.

Leena Karimi joins SPSE

Leena just joined our group, right after finishing her MS degree in Biomedicine also in SPSE/NanoCAN. Her project will be focused on cell screening, cytotoxicity and intracellular pathways, in particular in drug delivery and targeting studies in prostate cancer and prostate cancer stem cells.

Chris just joined our group as a postdoctoral researcher. He graduated in 2013 with PhD in Biophysics, Biomedical Engineering and Computational Science (BECS) by Aalto University (Finland), and has held different scientific positions in both industry and academia with an overall focus in biomedicine.

"Rejsegilde" of the new MEMPHYS/SPSE facilities

The traditional "Rejsegilde" (topping out) ceremony was celebrated yesterday in our new MEMPHYS/SPSE facilities, in which a garland with ribbons was hung from the topmost place of the building before the roof was placed. The tradition says this is necessary to appease the tree-dwelling spirits displaced in its construction.
