Getting to SDU

SDU is located at the outskirts of Odense located at the centre of Fyn.

There are direct trains from the Copenhagen Airport to Odense Train Station. You can also stop first at the train station in Copenhagen and then take the first train to Odense. With the fast train the ride is about 110 minutes. From Odense train station you can either take a taxi (about 100 DKK or 15 €) or take bus number 40, 41 or 42 labeled Universitetet that drives directly to the university

Getting to SDU by plane

Odense does not have an international airport. The major hub for air travel is Copenhagen Kastrup (Star Alliance). Billund (KLM) serves a number of European destinations. Smaller airports with international connections are Esbjerg and Århus/Tirstrup.

Copenhagen Kastrup

Flights arrive at terminal 1 and 3. There are frequently high-speed Intercity trains directly from the airport to Odense. Journey time is about one hour.


There are several connections from Billund towards Odense. There is one direct bus every day, but the most flexible route is to take a bus to Vejle and then a train to Odense. The journey time is 2-3 hours. Good advice is to check bus schedules in advance.

Aarhus (Tirstrup)

This is a small airport is located 40 km north of Aarhus, it connects to London and a few Scandinacian destinations. Buses to Århus train station are synchronized with flights arrivals. Trains run between Århus and Odense every half hour during daytime. Journey time is about 3 hours.


Take a bus to Esbjerg or to Fredericia, where you can change into a train bound for Odense. Journey time 2-3 hours.
